Synthetic Polymer Drug Carriers Design
Introduction to Synthetic Polymer Drug Carriers Design
A polymer controlled drug delivery system is a drug delivery technology that uses polymer materials to control the rate and location of drug release in the body. Polymer drug delivery systems are used in a variety of forms, including microparticles, nanoparticles, hydrogels and polymer implants. The design of polymer drug delivery systems is based on a variety of mechanisms such as dissolution, diffusion, penetration, and ion exchange. These mechanisms allow the drug to be released from the polymer matrix in a controlled manner to achieve the desired therapeutic effect.
The polymer controlled drug delivery system has the characteristics of material diversity, targeting and long-term performance. This opens up the possibility of meeting different administration requirements, such as improving the stability or water solubility of the drug, reducing immunogenicity, and extending the residence time of the drug in the body. Or through surface modification, polymer particles can target specific tissues or organs, improving the bioavailability of drugs.
Synthetic Polymer Drug Carriers Design Services We Offer
Over the last few years, a variety of polymer-controlled drug delivery systems have been successfully developed for better therapeutic efficacy and better targeting of drug agents. Creative BioMart Nanocage can provide some of the synthetic polymers listed below:
Polymeric Nanocarrier
Polymeric micelles are nanoscopic spherical structures formed by amphiphilic block copolymers. Both the inherent core and shell of polymeric micelles could be modified to make them particularly well suited for drug delivery purposes, and in the meantime achieve abilities to reduce toxicities, enhance target delivery and improve the therapeutic efficacy. At Creative BioMart Nanocage, we provide various types of off-the-shelf polymer products, such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-b-butylmethacrylate) (PNIPAM), polypyrrole (PPy), poly(lactide) (PLA), poly(glycolide) (PGA), and the copolymer of lactide and glycolide referred to as poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA).
Polymer-Drug Conjugates
Polymer-drug Conjugates (PDCs) are a class of highly targeted drug delivery systems that improve pharmacokinetic properties and reduce side effects by attaching therapeutic drugs directly or via splice molecules to polymer scaffolders. At Creative BioMart Nanocage, besides the widely used PEG, alternative natural and synthetic polymers are also being examined, such as polyoxazolines, poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide) (PHPMA), poly(oligoethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate) (POEGMA), and hydroxyethyl starch.
Hydrogel
Hydrogels are composed of a large amount of water and crosslinked polymer networks. The release of the loaded drugs from the hydrogel carriers may occur through diffusion, hydrogel matrix swelling, or chemical reactivity of the drug/matrix. At Creative BioMart Nanocage, we committed to keep working on the synthesis of new polymers and crosslinkers with greater biocompatibility and better biodegradability that would increase and enhance current hydrogel based drug delivery applications.
Responsive Polymer
The stimuli-responsive polymeric nanomedicines that are triggered by external and internal stimuli such as pH, temperature, light, ultrasound, electronic and magnetic fields, biomolecules and enzymes, the polymeric nanomedicines can deliver drugs/genes/siRNA into the diseased sites and cells on-demand.
